After completing 12th, I was literally in a dilemma about picking up the right career choice. So many people suggested so many things, but I was pretty much keen pursuing English in the Bachelors. Thanks to my father who supported and encouraged me in this process. After my graduation in English Honours and MA in English, I’m all set to take the final plunge, i.e. to become an English professor and to teach at some recognised college in India. But the route is not very easy. I know I have to work really hard to clear UGC NET. Since I have done Master’s in English, I’m much confident about cracking the exam. I’ve worked on a few tips that would prove handy for me as well as others too. Have a look at my preparation tips for UGC NET English literature – my success mantra.
Important Topics to Cover
The English literature is vast. Being an English literature student, it is quite easy for me to do a quick list of important topics. As per my understanding, your chance will go up as you cover the following topics – Indian Writing English, American and other non-British English Literature, Chaucer to Shakespeare, Romantic Period, Victorian Period, Modern Period, Literary Theory and Criticism, History of English Language, English Language Teaching, Modern British Literature, Indian Literature in English Translation, Contemporary Theory, Contemporary British literature, Modern Period, Contemporary Period, etc.
Divide Syllabus to Reduce Pressure
Students who appear in the UGC NET exam in English are often considered less confident as compared to others. In case, you are feeling low, start with the basics. Divide the syllabus as per your comfort. Separate subjects that you need to pay more attention and the topics you do great at.
Flowcharts, making a timetable, practising previous years’ question papers, summarising notes, etc. are other key UGC NET preparation tips. If you are appearing in UGC NET 2018 December exam, stick to these mantras.
